Summer Events Report

Touch A Truck - July 13th, 2024

The 6th annual Touch a Truck event on Saturday July 13th at Sauble Beach United Church was highly successful thanks in part to the BBQ by the Sauble and Area Men’s Club under the leadership of Barry Gauthier and his team of cooks and helpers.

The event featured 25 participants including a 1917 Ford roadster, a sod cutter, two police cars, a fishing boat, a fire truck, a stone mobile and many other exhibits. The over 200 children and adults enjoyed the fun event which raised over $500 for community outreach between the event and the BBQ.

This is the last Touch a Truck event for the church, and the organizers thank the Men’s Club for their kind participation in the six events.

Summer Concerts Sauble Beach - Fundraiser

Summer concerts held at the Sauble Community centre promoted by majortalentinc.com were a nice addition to the summer events at the beach. Hotel California – the original Eagles Tribute and Abba Tribute Band both put on a great show for Sauble Beach residents and visitors.

Thankyou to everyone that supported these shows. Participation by the Men’s Club to help with promoting, ushering, admission and the bar raised a total of $1000 for the Salvation Army Food Bank in Wiarton.

Bocce Ball Tournament with Corn Roast & BBQ

It was a beautiful summer day where we had a great turnout of 46 Bocce enthusiasts for this annual event held at the Sauble Beach United Church on the 20th of August.

We set up 9 courts with 15 teams playing Bocce Ball (30 people) and 16 spectators who enjoyed watching the bocce and taking in the BBQ feast.

First prize winners were Steve O’Krafta & Barry Gauthier (Team 3)

Consolation prize winners were Bill Stewart & Joan (Team 15)

After the games everyone enjoyed delicious hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, potato salad, corn on the cob and watermelon.

Total revenue was 46 x $10 for a total of $460.00 minus expenses of $351 for a surplus of $110 to go towards future support of local charities.

As always, many thanks to Don Riddell for once again organizing this event.

He did a marvelous job and all who participated appreciate his efforts.

Tournament proceeds totaling $975 went to the Allenford Curling Club as a result of the contributions from the putting contest and a very successful silent auction.

Cheers and many thanks to all who participated and enjoyed the perfect weather that day.
