Is there a possible club name change in our future? Don also promoted the Allenford Curling Club’s up-coming Roast Beef dinner & Pickle Ball at the curling club.

Dennis reached out to the membership to encourage anyone willing to participate on the executive to come forward, we need volunteers.

David shared his knowledge of the history of Sauble Beach going back to native days & crafts and how businesses started at the turn of the 20th century then disappeared and when settlers started building homes & cottages. He also talked about some of the key people who were pillars of the community over the years. His presentation included some historical pictures of buildings and people on the overhead monitor. Very interesting indeed for all those history buffs with many great memories of Sauble Beach.
Pancake Breakfast

On Saturday, April 15th we served 153 hungry adults & 12 children in attendance for our delicious annual pancake breakfast.
Our volunteer members served pancakes topped off with butter & delicious maple syrup including sides of breakfast sausage plus a slice of cantaloupe. Beverages provided were apple juice, coffee tea & water.

We only had a few sausages left over, some pancake mixed batter, some butter & a cantaloup which was divided up among the volunteers. Inventory was well managed, extra dry goods will be saved for other men’s club events. Profit from the event amounting to $1012.82 will be donated to the Sauble United Church & other charities.

The following people volunteered for the event to help make it such a great success:
Roger Barwell, Lloyd Sheridan, Vic Weitendorf, Dennis Heathers, David Masters, Don Zimmer, Alec Moore, Cecil Frank and Roseta, Rick Napper, Peter Lewko, Bill Natziger, Rick Schott, Don Riddell, Alf Roth, Ken Ferguson, Bob Rusk, Darryl Culbert, Bob Bowman, Bill Miller, George Ernst, Neil Rourke.

Spring Day Trip to Tobermory
Parks Canada Visitor Centre

On Tuesday, May 6th, twenty members of the Sauble and Area Men’s Club enjoyed a self guided tour of the Parks Canada Visitors Centre located in Tobermory.

Exploring Tobermory:
-
Nature and Wildlife:
Tobermory is home to diverse ecosystems, including ancient cedar trees, vast forests, and rocky areas, providing habitat for various animals like black bears, raccoons, and diverse snake species.
-
Marine Life:
The area is a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkeling due to its clear waters and numerous shipwrecks, offering a unique underwater experience.
-
Landscapes:
The Bruce Trail, a network of hiking trails, allows visitors to explore the cliffs and forests, providing stunning views and a close-up look at the natural beauty.
-
Cultural Experiences:
The village offers a variety of activities, including visiting the National Park Visitor Centre, which has a theatre showing a film called "Life on the Edge," exploring local shops and restaurants, and attending the annual orchid festival.
-
Unique Attractions:
Tobermory is known for its crystal-clear waters, the Grotto, and the opportunity to experience the dark skies, making it a popular destination for stargazing.

Prior to our tour we were taken to their theatre for a fascinating video presentation entitled “Life on the Edge”. This concept refers to the edge of the cliffs, the edge of the water and the edge of the known world offering a sense of adventure and exploration.

Our tour would not be complete without the group going out to enjoy a great meal and conversation of the day’s events. Lunch at the "Bear Tracks Inn and Restaurant" in Ferndale near Lion’s Head was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Thank you to all the drivers for taking our members safely up the peninsula to and from Tobermory.

Special thanks are extended to Rick Schott for all he did to make this spring trip a complete success enjoyed by all in attendance.
Sauble Parkway Road Cleanup
On Wednesday May 21st, we held our annual cleanup along the Sauble Falls Parkway from Main Street to the Falls.
This is one of our numerous community service projects Helping to keep the area clean and pristine for our local residents and the many tourists that visit our community throughout the year.

Many thanks to the 18 members of the Men’s Club who volunteered to come out and walk the route on this perfect working day under cool and breezy conditions where black flies and mosquitos where nowhere to be seen.

During the morning, we collected 18 bags of garbage and removed an old door discarded along the Parkway to be taken to the landfill – great work guys!

Following the clean-up, some great coffee and delicious raspberry muffins fresh out of the oven were enjoyed by all at Laszlo's Bistro & Pizza.

Once again, special thanks go to Rick Schott for organizing this event.

Well done everyone!
