May - June Reports

Sauble Parkway Cleanup

Thanks to the 16 members of our club who volunteered to come out and walk the Sauble Parkway from Main street to the Falls bridge on our annual clean-up of trash held on Wednesday, May 23rd.  This has become a tradition and is one of our many community service projects which helps to keep the area clean and respectable for our local residents and also our tourists  During the morning we collected a total of 28 bags which were then taken to the landfill site.

Following the clean-up Paul and Ellen Farrow and the staff of the Sauble Golf Course treated us to coffee and muffins for which we are most grateful!

Our thanks also go to Rick Schott who organized the event.  Well done everyone!

UCW  Plant & Book  Sale With Barbecue

Lloyd Sheridan reports that the Men’s Club did a fantastic job of barbecuing and serving up delicious hamburgers with fried onions, jumbo hot dogs and peameal bacon on a bun to the customers of the UCW Plant Sale held at the Sauble United Church parking lot on Friday June 8th and Saturday June 9th.   Eight men handled the food tent on Friday in two shifts of four and this was repeated with another eight men on Saturday.  It was just the right combination with two volunteers tending the barbecue as well as a server and a person looking after the receipts.  Everything went very smoothly while the UCW ladies sold plants and garden affects which resulted in their best sale to date.  Thanks to Lloyd for coordinating this event and to everyone who helped with this community project.
